Stepping outside of the box with this new build, Heritage Homes recently took their more contemporary Ashmore Plan to a cozy new, lodge-style level. To complete the warm and rustic appeal, Trever Hill Design complemented the textures with warm elements and seasonal décor to make the free-standing fireplace the shining star.

“Heritage Homes decided they wanted to do a home a little outside of the box,” said Hill. “In doing this, they decided to build a modern-contemporary lodge. As you can see with the home and the furnishings I selected, the home has very clean and sharp lines you generally would find in a more contemporary home. The difference is that each piece has a rustic element to it that gives it that warm cozy feeling of a lodge.”

“This take on a modern lodge was one of our inspirations. We intentionally showcased it because it’s not what you’d typically see in town, but rather in the lakes area.”

“One of the game-changing elements in this home is the fireplace,” said Hill. “I love this floating, free-standing fireplace, especially when you walk behind it to walk upstairs. It has such a grand feeling. When selecting the furnishings from Furniture Mart and Unclaimed Freight, I kept in mind the textured design features of the home. Every piece selected could be in a lodge or moved into a contemporary home with ease. Collectively, they all look more rustic together but each piece separately could be tossed into a contemporary house and feel right at home.”

GREY & BROWN

“Looking at the color palette, I quickly realized they really went for greys, but quite a bit of browns too,” said Hill. “I have heard from people that they don’t believe they can mix brown and grey, but right here is a testament that you most definitely can. The sofa love seat is a mocha grey, it has a lot of grey in it, but it also has that warm brown tone.”

WARMTH IN THE DETAILS

“The details are really unique, like this backsplash with Chicago brick,” said Hill. “When I think about the style of a true lodge, I think lots of texture. Any place that you look in here is texture upon texture upon texture. For some reason, I hear from a lot of people that one of their favorite design elements in most homes is just that, they’ll say ‘I love the texture,’ or mainly the feeling of warmth they get from those elements.”

“Our team wanted to feature one of the many styles that can be built,” said Steve Larson of Heritage Homes. “The public’s reaction has been great. We are always trying to be at the forefront of trends and innovations in the home industry. At Heritage Homes, we cater to those different styles and aesthetics. You can truly customize any of our plans to fit your wants, needs and inspirations.”
